Dr. Mark Knight will present a talk about “The Trent Valley Past & Present: connecting communities with their natural and cultural heritage”.
Staffordshire Wildlife Trust has been exploring the millennia-long relationship between people and the landscapes of the River Trent and its tributaries through hands-on archaeology, historical research, and the sharing of local folklore, stories and history. We have been leading individuals and groups in the discovery of new ways to interpret and celebrate their shared past.
Dr Mark Knight is an historian, musician, parish councillor and chair of his local allotment society. He is a council member of the English Place Name Society and trustee of the Staffordshire Archaeological and Historical Society. Mark is the Senior Cultural Heritage Officer for Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, leading projects in finding ways to protect our historic environment whilst enhancing the natural one, rooting the work of the wildlife trust in deep cultural context
