Our next meeting is on Tuesday, 18th November, when Roger White will be talking on the subject of ‘Wroxeter- Breaking New Ground’ .
In 2024, a month-long excavation in the heart of the Roman city of Wroxeter was undertaken to search for evidence of Wroxeter’s main public temple, which it was suspected lay under the Victorian Farm complex on the site. As is often the case with archaeology, things did not turn out entirely as expected, but the results were a valuable addition to our understanding of the site, adding a spectacular new discovery to our knowledge of the town and its people.
Roger White is an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Birmingham. His main research interest is Wroxeter, and also later Roman Britain and the early Middle Ages.
