On June 18th, Professor Andrew Hopper will be talking to us about English Civil War Petitions.

Professor Andrew Hopper, FRHistS, FHEA, FSAHR is Professor of Local and Social History at the University of Oxford. He completed his doctoral thesis at the University of York in 1999. He is best known for his two books ‘Black Tom’: Sir Thomas Fairfax and the English Revolution (Manchester University Press, 2007) and Turncoats and Renegadoes: Changing Sides in the English Civil Wars (Oxford University Press, 2012). He is currently working on his third book Widowhood and Bereavement in the English Civil Wars under contract with Oxford University Press, which is based on the Arts and Humanities Research Council-funded Civil War Petitions Project (2017-2023) for which he is Principal Investigator
